Background of the Study
Digital examinations are increasingly being adopted by universities as a more efficient and scalable method of assessing students' knowledge. Federal University, Gashua, located in Bade LGA, Yobe State, is one of the institutions leveraging digital platforms for conducting examinations. However, digital exams face several challenges, including cheating, fraud, and tampering with exam results. Traditional security measures such as passwords and firewalls may not be sufficient to prevent such issues.
Blockchain technology, known for its decentralized and immutable nature, offers a promising solution to secure digital exams. By recording every transaction or action in a decentralized ledger, blockchain ensures that exam records cannot be altered without detection. Smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms directly written into code, can further enhance security by automating exam-related processes, such as authentication and result submission, in a transparent and tamper-proof manner.
Statement of the Problem
Federal University, Gashua, is facing issues related to the security and integrity of digital examinations. With increasing instances of cheating and manipulation of results, there is a need for a more robust and secure method to protect the examination process.
